course.

Another innovation during 1926 was Drill. Mrs. Atwell was appointed to the Staff in September for physical culture. This subject was quite new to the girls; we were therefore rather apprehensive as 'to the reception it would be given, but were quickly reassured as the girls shewed their enjoy- ment from the first, and its beneficial results soon became apparent. It is noticeable that the games with which the lessous close tend to promote a larger measure of free play amongst the pupils during the hours of recess and it may generally be said that the deportment of the girls has dis. tinetly improved.

LIBRARY.—A small room has been arranged as a library and a study for the senior pupils.

GENERAL SCHOOL ACTIVITIES. The Victoria Nursing Division of the St. John Ambulance Brigade still continues to be a very live interest in the school. Dr. Minett lectured during the year on First Aid and Home Nursing: in October fourteen condidates were examined by Dr. Hickling and all passed. Members attended two parades in 1926, one on the occasion of H.E. the Governor's inspection and the other on the investitute of His Excellency by H.R.H. Prince George. Pupils have expressed a wish that the School should become identified with the Girl Guide movement, and three members of the Staff together with two former pupils are training as officers with this end in view. It is hoped that patrols will be formed in March and the School is grateful to Mrs. Remington for the help she is giving.

An Old Girls' Association has recently been formed. This new manifestation of esprit de corps is most welcome, and the work Miss Lewis has done in connexion with the Associa- tion is much appreciatel.

Yet a further departure is the founding of a School Magazine, which will be produced twice yearly.

CONCLUSION.-In conclsuion I desire to place on record my appreciation of the harmonious atmosphere which has existed during the period under review. I cannot speak too warmly of the loyalty of all branches of the Staff, and of the support extended to me throughout the year. Such whole- hearted co-operation has considerably lightened the work of administration, and I feel constrained to tender my thanks to all concerned.
